About Me Personally

Hello, and welcome to ThriveWithOly!

Hi, I’m Oluchukwu (Oly) Njoku, a UK Registered Dietitian, nutrition educator and author.

I help Africans and the African diaspora improve their health, manage nutrition-related conditions and build healthier bodies without giving up the Nigerian foods they know and love.

Over the years, I’ve supported people living with a wide range of nutrition-related conditions. One challenge kept coming up again and again: many were given nutrition advice that simply didn’t fit their culture or everyday lives.

They were told to stop eating rice, yam, garri, fufu or other traditional meals, but rarely shown how to enjoy these foods in healthier ways. As a result, many felt frustrated, overwhelmed and disconnected from the foods that are an important part of who they are.

I believe there is a better way.

Healthy eating shouldn’t mean abandoning your culture. With the right knowledge and practical strategies, you can improve your health while still enjoying your favourite Nigerian meals.

That’s why I founded ThriveWithOly.

ThriveWithOly is an evidence-based nutrition education platform dedicated to helping Africans make informed, sustainable lifestyle changes that fit real life. Whether you’re managing diabetes, PCOS, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, weight concerns or other nutrition-related conditions, my goal is to give you practical guidance that works with your culture—not against it.

Through personalised nutrition coaching, books, online programmes, courses and educational resources, I simplify nutrition science into realistic steps you can confidently apply to your everyday meals.

My approach is simple:

You don’t have to choose between your health and your culture. You can build a healthier body while still enjoying the foods you love.

Thank you for being here. I’m honoured to be part of your journey towards better health..

"What I loved most about this cookbook is that it doesn't tell you to stop eating African food. Instead, it teaches you how to make healthier choices using ingredients and meals I already know. It's informative, realistic and encouraging."
